English is the language of business. There are now more people speaking English as a second language in the world than there are native speakers of English. More and more international companies, whether their headquarters are in France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Spain or Holland need to run workshops and strategic team meetings in English. Many French companies have decided that if they wish to stay effective in their foreign operations it is too much to expect all of its overseas executives to learn perfect French. So the compromise, in electronic mail, in telephone conversations and in team meetings or workshops is to speak English. One of the first things that Carlos Ghosn did was to come up with a mini-dictionary of vital words in English so that his Japanese and French reports could speak the same langage. Even Rémy-Cointreau, one of the most prestigious names in French business has French employees reporting to Dutch managers in English. Xerox requires its technicians in France to work in English, and the list goes on... We can coachg managers and facilitate workshops in English or French in Europe and we also have the multicultural sensitivities necessary to intercultural business. |
